HEIDI's LTD ED. 2005 Calendar

Every year seems to hold new hope and the promise for something better, nicer, sweeter. We are constantly looking for new adventures, inspiration and beauty. We want to be driven, take charge, observe, dream and be taken to new places. We all have different ideas on how a calendar should look. Personally I don’t need squares to write in another birthday I will forget, neither do I like the image on top and dates on the bottom, or enjoy the cheap paper calendars are usually printed on.

Every year I struggle to find a beautiful calendar and this is why I started designing my own calendars.
This year I have chosen my favourite photographs and designed a limited edition calendar which I dream about getting printed. The images chosen offer enjoyment over time, where one month is available to reflect on the still life represented. The calendar is designed in full colour - A3 and will be printed on beautiful thick paper – that is if I can find enough orders to cover costs.
The photos are represented in an abstract and minimalistic style to create some ambiguity about the object pictured so that they encourage a more lasting visual response.
Photography is my playground: finding the perfect blurry photo, the moment of stillness, creating landscapes with fabrics and capturing what is around me and close to my heart.
The blurry and close-up images focus more attention on colour, light and space. They create a different atmosphere and perspective to the way domestic space is usually encountered.
I reduce everything to the essential, leave out distracting items, and focus on the necessary. For me design is the perfect balance of wonder, functionality and delight.

Having had a couple of small exhibitions I have been hoping to stage a bigger exhibition next year. This calendar was a way for me to show my work and also an initiative to get funds for my next exhibition.

A lot of care and thought went into this calendar and each and every page is filled with my heart and soul and will provide an inspiration to anyone with an interest in art, design and photography.
